Since 1973, The Jewish Home for
the Elderly of Fairfield, CT has been enhancing
lives and providing long term care. The needs of seniors have
changed over the years, causing the need for a new array
of services to be offered. The Home has expanded and adapted
accordingly to reflect these changes.

The Jewish Home has been helping elders with services that include Geriatric Assessments and Care Management, assistance at home provided by Compassionate Care Companions, medical home care, adult day services at Grasmere by the Sea, and residential care on our 15 acre campus in suburban Fairfield, Connecticut.
Post acute rehabilitation
services are not always offered at acute care hospitals. At the
Jewish Home, we are able to work one-on-one with you and your loved
one to analyze and achieve their individual recovery goals. These
types of recovery methods are highly suggested for patients who
have recently suffered a stroke, have had orthopedic or any other
type of surgery, are amputees, or are interested in diabetes care,
post trauma care, and more. Our primary goal with post acute
rehabilitation is to stabilize our patients so they can begin a
recovery process. We provide consistent and continual care for
those who have suffered all different kinds of traumatic

Internships/Education at The Jewish Home
The Jewish Home provides internships and field placement experiences for those looking to gain insight into this career. This includes a variety of disciplines such as art therapy, human services, music therapy, nursing home administration, long term care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, convalescent home positions, speech therapy and social work.
The Jewish Home for the Elderly in co-sponsorship with Sacred Heart University, Physical Therapy Program is offering Continuing Education Coursework. Clinical professionals: Physical and Occupational Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologists can earn CEU credits when they attend our Educational Workshops.
Fairfield University, Fordham University, Housatonic Community College, New York University, Sacred Heart University, Southern Connecticut State College, the University of Bridgeport, Yeshiva University and other institutions of higher learning have established academic relationships with the Home.
Clinical Physical Therapy Residency Program in
In addition, individuals who are eligible for physical therapy licensure in the state of Connecticut are invited to apply for The Jewish Home’s Clinical Physical Therapy Residency Program in Geriatrics.
The Clinical Physical Therapy Residency Program provides physical therapists with the opportunity to fine tune advanced competency skills in geriatric physical therapy. This will prepare the individual to take the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties exam in Geriatric Physical Therapy.
This is a year long program and includes mentored clinical practice in the following areas of physical therapy: neurological, post acute rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary, integumentary and general musculoskeletal treatment of the older adult. Didactic instruction includes distance learning through Sacred Heart University and seminars in geriatric physical therapy on-site.
All applicants who are eligible for physical therapy licensure in the state of Connecticut are welcome to apply.
